GUIDED TOURS Royal Chambers:
The chambers on the second floor of the Castle, high and spacious, served representative purposes. This is where the Sejm and Senate held their sessions, royal audiences and wedding ceremonies took place, and balls were held. After a catastrophic fire in 1595, part of the east wing and the north wing of the Renaissance palace of the Jagiellonian dynasty were rebuilt in the early Baroque style. Sigismund III commissioned the architect Jan Trevano to carry out the work. Consequently, this part of the Castle now has Baroque furnishings. Further on, on the second floor, trophies and memorabilia related to Jan III Sobieski and the victory at Vienna in 1683 are displayed, in particular three valuable Turkish tents from one of the largest collections of Eastern tents in Europe.
The guided tour covers the interiors of the Castle on the second floor.
